Our COVID-19 Safety Procedures

O2B Kids has remained open throughout the COVID-19 crisis which means we’ve gained invaluable experience in how to successfully manage schools AND keep kids safe during this unprecedented time.

While we absolutely love laughing, playing and teaching your kids, we know that our primary responsibility is to keep your kids SAFE! To do so, we monitor the daily guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), our local Health Departments, and our Licensing Agencies. Additionally, we’ve been actively engaged with a national child care think tank to share best practices across the country. Now more than ever, we remain committed to our mission to give your family a SAFE place for your child to laugh, learn and grow!

Our Response to COVID-19

While we continue to improve our systems as new information is provided, the information below demonstrates the current steps we are taking to keep our facilities as safe as they can be.

O2B Kids

Building Access

To limit the number of people inside our building, child drop-off and pick-up occurs outside our facility. Only children, staff, licensing personnel and essential delivery and repair professionals are allowed inside our buildings. But don't worry, we have a great time escorting every child to the classroom!

O2B Kids

Health Screening

Before every visit, each child, staff member and visitor must pass a Daily Health Screening. Each person is asked a series of questions and has their temperature taken, and are only able to enter if they pass the screening. The Health Screening is updated regularly as recommendations from the CDC change.

O2B Kids

Prevention Policies

Children are observed throughout the day for signs of illness. We train our staff on health and safety steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Any person who has had contact with someone with COVID-19 must self-quarantine for 14 days prior to returning to O2B Kids. We follow a strict COVID-19 Attendance Policy which lets children, staff and visitors know when they can return.

O2B Kids

Cleaning & Sanitizing

We clean the building throughout the day with a special focus on high-touch areas. We do not share toys between groups and we disinfect any toy that comes in contact with body fluid. We use spray disinfectant for our playgrounds after every play session. We use sanitation foggers to disinfect classrooms and deep clean nightly.

O2B Kids

Class Operations

We’ve reduced class sizes to serve a smaller number of kids per room. Kids stay in a single group and teachers are assigned to one group. We maximize distance between kids during all activities. All child personal items & linens are sent home regularly for cleaning. To keep our teachers clean, we are allowing multiple uniforms so they have time to launder their clothes.

O2B Kids

Healthy Habits

We educate our kids about how germs spread and teach healthy habits such as sneezing or coughing into a tissue or your elbow if no tissues are available. We wash our hands for 20 seconds MANY times during the day including upon arrival, at meal times, before/after going outside, before/after naps and after every classroom transition. Our Health Screening & Escort team wear masks.

Daily Health Screening

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, every CHILD and ADULT must pass a Daily Health Screening before entering an O2B Kids facility.

Child Daily Health Screening

  • Does the child you’re dropping off have symptoms of COVID-19? Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, muscle or body aches, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Has the child you’re dropping off had any of those symptoms in the past 10 days or been in contact with someone who has a fever or respiratory infection? In contact means within 6 feet for 15 minutes or more in the two days prior to when symptoms began.
  • Has the child you’re dropping off been diagnosed with COVID-19 or been in contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 14 days?
  • The child’s temperature will be taken and must be below 100.4 degrees.

  • However, anyone who has had close contact with someone with COVID-19 and who:
    • was diagnosed with COVID-19 illness within the previous 3 months and
    • has recovered and
    • remains without COVID-19 symptoms (for example, cough, shortness of breath),
does not need to stay home.

Tested Positive for COVID-19

With NO symptoms: A child or staff member who has had a positive test result for COVID-19 but has not had any symptoms, can return to O2B Kids 10 days after the positive test assuming they still have no symptoms.

Travel

Anyone that returns from international travel must stay home for 14 days.

This COVID-19 Attendance Policy is based on recommendations from the CDC and may change as new information becomes available.

The above guidelines are for illnesses related to COVID-19. All other illnesses and symptoms will follow our regular Sick Policy found in our Parent Handbook (for children) or Fun Crew Storybook (for employees). Thank you for helping us stay safe and healthy!

Our Response to a Positive Test Result

While we will do everything possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19, this virus has jumped oceans and crossed continents and is very difficult to contain. Part of a solid Safety Plan is acknowledging that we cannot 100% prevent the spread of this virus. Responding aggressively if a member of our school community tests positive for COVID-19 is an essential part of our Safety Plan. In the event of a positive test, we will follow these steps:

Identify

We will identify the children, staff or parents who may have been in contact with the diagnosed person. "In contact" is defined as being within 6 feet of the person for 15 minutes or more.

Call

We will call all families of children who may have been in contact with the diagnosed person and communicate if a quarantine period is required prior to returning to school.

Email

We will email all families in the school to alert them of a positive test result and communicate how we will respond.

Report

We will report the positive test result to the Health Department, our Licensing Agency, and our School Readiness provider.

Clean

We will complete a deep clean of the building including the use of a sanitation fogger.

Protect

In order to protect others from a potential virus exposure, we will use CDC guidelines to determine if the school or a classroom needs to close and for how long.

Breathe!

Take a deep breath! This is a stressful time but we'll all get through it together!

These action steps are based on guidance from the CDC and our local Health Departments and may evolve as new information is made available.

FAQ

Are parents allowed to take their children inside of the building?

Parents will not be allowed to take their children inside our facilities. Only children, staff, licensing personnel or essential delivery and repair professionals are allowed inside our facilities. We will escort your child to their classroom.

What is your policy on kid masks?

The CDC recommends that school-age children wear a mask. This is particularly important when in public settings or common areas where it is difficult to practice social distancing. Please have your child bring a mask with them, and wear it when they arrive. Once they are in their classroom with their group or while on the playground, they may be able to take it off. Children in our Afterschool program are required to wear a mask while on the bus or van. Our mask policy may vary by location depending on state and local regulations.

Does your staff wear masks?

We require all staff members to wear a mask in common areas of the building - any time they enter, exit, use shared spaces, transition between rooms, go to the bathroom, walk in the halls, etc. If they choose, they can take the mask off when they are on the playground in the fresh (and hot!) air. When our teachers are in their assigned classroom with their assigned group of children, teachers can take the mask off if they are able to safely social distance. Our mask policy may vary by location depending on state and local regulations.

What will drop-off and pick-up look like?

Drop-off and pick-up occurs OUTSIDE our buildings. We conduct a Daily Health Screening that includes daily temperature checks for all staff and children before they enter. Parents must wear masks at drop-off and pick-up. We will escort your children to their classroom/group and make sure their belongings get where they need to be. At pick-up, we will bring your children to you along with any items they brought to school that day. We ask that you bring in clean items daily.

How are you disinfecting/sanitizing classrooms and play areas?

We are cleaning and disinfecting the building throughout the day with a focus on commonly touched surfaces such as doorknobs, light switches, faucets, bathrooms, tables and chairs. We use a spray disinfectant to clean the playground equipment after every group. We do not share toys between groups of children and we sanitize all toys that come into contact with a child’s bodily fluid. We use sanitation foggers to disinfect our classrooms. We also do a nightly deep cleaning at the end of every day.
